Where It Started: The 2022 Youth Leadership Camp That Built a Partnership

Updated: Jul 28

Four years a go, PUNDI's youth leadership work began with a five-session leadership and communication training delivered through EE4G methodology, in partnership with HKBP's Outreach Board and coaches from Yayasan Badan Kerjasama Marturia (YBKS). PUNDI was the camp's largest individual sponsor, contributing 20% toward the event's total budget. Held across four Saturdays and Sundays in May 2022, the camp brought together more than 50 young people — confirmands, teenagers, young adults, and teachers — into small accountability groups for hands-on practice in public speaking, sharing, and peer leadership. It was also one of the congregation's first in-person youth gatherings after Indonesia's pandemic-era mobility restrictions eased, giving the training an added sense of reunion and renewal.

This early collaboration laid the groundwork for what has since grown into PUNDI's ongoing youth empowerment partnership with YBKS — now channeled through Serafim Praise digital outreach team — which together have equipped 270+ young people in public speaking and leadership since 2021. What began as a single youth camp in 2022, backed by PUNDI's founding sponsorship, has since become a recurring pillar of PUNDI's Community Resiliency programming, built on the same conviction: that young people equipped to speak with confidence go on to lead, serve, and shape their communities with impact.

"Part of PUNDI's youth empowerment pillar — 270+ young people equipped since 2021."
